Homemade Blackhead Removal – Banish The Blackheads With Ease

Blackheads are the tiny black spots on the skin caused by the excess sebum (oil) deposited on the skin by the sebaceous glands, dead skin, dust, grime and bacteria. The pores of the skin get blocked by excess oil, which hardens in the pore. This is pushed up towards the opening of the pore exposing it to the air. The exposed surface oxidizes and turns black. A blackhead is like a plug in the pore. The visible part on the surface of the skin is black. You should aim to keep your skin free from blackheads in the first place. However, if blackheads do raise their ugly heads, you do not need to despair as homemade blackhead removal procedures are quite simple and effective.

There are a number of effective homemade remedies for the treatment/removal of blackheads. Homemade treatments are easy to make, always at hand and more economical. Moreover, homemade blackhead removers are completely natural and chemical free.

To make homemade blackhead treatments, you only have to look into your fridge, kitchen shelf or herb garden to find the raw materials that will go into the face pack or scrub.

Some suggestions for homemade treatments for blackheads are:

1. Paste of Fuller’s earth and rosewater - apply it on face, leave to dry for a few minutes and then rinse off with warm water

2. Paste of almond powder, fuller’s earth and glycerin.

3. Paste of yogurt mixed with oatmeal in a ratio of 1:2 to be applied on the face and washed off with cold water after it has dried.

4. Grated cucumber applied on the face and washed off after a few minutes leaving the skin refreshed and blackhead free.

5. Paste of sandalwood powder mixed with rosewater applied on the blackheads, left to dry and then washed off with water.

6. Oatmeal mixed with egg white and applied on the face is very effective for blackhead removal.

7.Grate dried orange peels and mix it with a little water to form an effective scrub.

8. Green tea leaves make a good facial scrub.

9. Cinnamon and limejuice paste or turmeric and coriander leaves paste can be used on the face to combat blackheads.

Most of these masks require making a basic paste of cooking ingredients, leaving it on the face to dry and then rinsing off with water.

If you stick to a few basic rules of skin care, blackheads may never bother you at all, like:

1. Mild soaps and cleansers are good for keeping the skin surface clean and oil-free.

2. Avoid caking your face with too much makeup. Allow your skin to breathe by keeping it makeup free most of the time.

3. Never ever squeeze blackheads as it can lead to skin infection and make your problem worse.

4. Use warm water to wash your skin as it opens up the pores allowing the blackheads to be expelled easily.

5. Keep your face clean. Use soft facial tissues to wipe your face clean when you are outdoors, especially in the city where the air is heavy with grime and pollutants.

6. Never share your towels and pillows with others. Pillow covers and towels should be washed frequently and sterilized.
